Ten Peaks in Shenzhen: Wutong Mountain Strategy (II) Bitong Road via Metro

The last strategy for Wutong Mountain started with the classic route from Wutong Village, heading from the main entrance of Wutong Mountain along the mountain road to Haohanzi Slope, then to the peak of Wutong, and the descent was made using the metro-accessible route described today, leading directly to Haishan Station on Line 8, which is very convenient.

From the mountain road to the peak of Wutong Mountain, you’ll have to walk for more than 8 kilometers, mostly on flat asphalt roads. The characteristic of this route is that it’s easy but relatively long. Today’s Bitong Road, which we took, is approximately 4300 meters long and is mostly made up of stone steps. The characteristics are: shorter in distance but more challenging, especially from the 2200-meter marker, where it’s mostly uphill, which can be quite physically demanding. Now, let’s get straight to the “main topic”:

On the morning of July 29th, around 9 am, depart from Fuyong Metro Station, transfer from Line 11 to Line 2 to Haishan Station, and exit from Exit A2. The travel time by metro is approximately 2 hours, arriving at the destination around 11 am.

After exiting the station, turn right and walk to the Second People’s Hospital of Yantian, which is about 300 meters away. There is a supermarket and a fast-food restaurant along the way. Since it was almost noon, I had a meal at the fast-food restaurant before heading up. Since I didn’t bring any snacks this time, it was a good idea to fill my stomach first.

梧桐山

The entrance to the mountain is on the right side of the Second People’s Hospital of Yantian. If you are facing the hospital as shown in the picture, you should go to the left, and it’s about a 50-meter walk.

梧桐山

When you see the entrance to the parking lot and the waste transfer station, you’ve arrived. The mountain climbing entrance is located behind the second white car from the left in the picture, through the stairway entrance.

Having arrived here, the first stage comes to an end. This place seems to be a duty post. Then, continue to proceed further down.

梧桐山

This section of the road is often under construction, and it can become a bit deteriorated after the rain. A little further ahead, you will find the stone steps for mountain climbing.

梧桐山

Just follow the mountain climbing path on the left. There are signs and distance indicators for Bitong Road along the way; please pay attention when you see them.

梧桐山

You have already walked 900 meters.

Continue further, and starting from 1200 meters, the rest of the road will be uphill climbing.

梧桐山

Start with a small incline to warm up.

梧桐山

Now at the 1400-meter mark, there is a small platform; take a break here.

梧桐山

Ahead lies a shaded forest path.

梧桐山

Now at the 1600-meter mark, I’m already drenched in sweat.

梧桐山

Continue on, walk a bit more, and then take another break, balancing work and rest.

梧桐山

Ahead is a downhill section where the path is interrupted, but don’t worry, just keep moving forward.

梧桐山

The picture shows a section of the road that is unclear for some reason. You will come across several sections like this where the road is broken, but don’t worry, just continue往前走, and you’ll get back on the mountain path.

梧桐山

At the 2200-meter mark, take a break for a while. The weather has been thundering, and today’s weather forecast is for thunderstorms.

梧桐山

After the break, start climbing. From here on out, it’s mostly steep mountain paths.

梧桐山

No matter how tired, be a happy climber.

梧桐山

After climbing the stone steps, it’s on to the rocky path.

梧桐山

Pay attention to taking breaks, maintain a good heart rate, and don’t go too fast. If you feel your heart is beating particularly fast, it is recommended to rest as soon as possible.

梧桐山

Resting platform, it started raining just as I arrived here. Due to the thunder, it’s not safe to take shelter under trees.

梧桐山

So I stood in the middle of this resting platform for a while. The rain was not heavy and it stopped after a short while.

梧桐山

Ahead lies a rather steep rocky path. Please be cautious, especially in the rain or when descending. Always move slowly and prioritize safety.

梧桐山

This section of the path is quite challenging. When you see the summit in the picture, congratulations, you have almost finished the uphill climb.

梧桐山

Upon ascending, you’ll find a resting platform. Going to the left will lead you to the path towards the main peak of Wutong Mountain.

梧桐山

The path coming up on the right is Xiutong Road. Please be careful not to take the wrong path when descending here.

梧桐山

This final stretch of the path is not too tiring, and the scenery gets better as you progress. Many of the sunrise videos of Wutong Mountain on Douyin were filmed here.

After reaching the mountaintop, continue moving forward.

梧桐山

Ahead lies the summit of Wutong Mountain.

梧桐山

There are vendors on the mountain selling water and food; please purchase according to your needs.

梧桐山

Moving forward, you will see the landmark for Wutong Mountain, known as the “First Peak of Pengcheng”.

梧桐山

This is the summit.

Due to the weather conditions today, there is no strong sunshine, and it’s quite cool at the summit. Normally, when visiting, be sure to bring enough water, pay attention to sun protection, and prevent heatstroke.
