I chose to start from Dongchong Beach this time: search for the Dongchong Beach bus station on Gaode Map, click on public transport, the software will automatically match the means of transportation. I usually take the subway and transfer to the E11 bus, get off at Nan’ao Moon Bay Station, and transfer to the M231 directly to Dongchong Beach Station.
After getting off the bus, continue to walk forward, you can look at the map, and then cross the bridge here to officially start hiking.
After crossing the bridge, you will see the placed signpost, then just follow the upward path.
When you get to the hillside, the view will immediately open up, and continue to follow the small path along the edge.
You will see road signs tied by the roadside, thanks a lot to the previous hikers. Generally, if you are outdoors and do not know the way, you can look for these rope marks, which are usually signs made by hikers.
Then go down, and you will see a steep road, follow the iron chain down to the seaside, and be sure to pay attention to safety.
Next, follow the seaside, this section of the road is all stone road, walk between the rocks, be careful to step firmly, don’t step empty, safety first.
The latter part is mainly coastal hiking, there is no shade, so you need to prepare for sun protection, prevent heatstroke. Prepare water, sun hats, and refreshing medicines.
Then continue down, and you will see the benchmark for crossing Dongchong and Xichong. If you can’t keep up physically, rest more, because there is still a long way to go, and it’s important to save your strength.
Many people rest here and then go forward, they need to cross a mountain.
After climbing up the mountain, look back, the scenery is quite beautiful.
Keep going.
There are climbing routes later, there are two sections like this, be sure to hold the iron chain before going up, safety first.
The most important thing about the road ahead is the test of physical strength and the prevention of heatstroke. Whether you can persist depends on whether you usually exercise.
Because when I went that day, I encountered someone with heatstroke, and I heard some teams shouting if there was Huoxiang Zhengqi Water to relieve the heat, so I personally think that physical strength and preventing heatstroke are the most important things to cross Dongchong and Xichong. If you are going to start, remember to prepare.
Finally, when you arrive at the observatory, it’s not far from the end. Keep going, and it will end at Xichong.
Because I didn’t think of writing a guide before, I didn’t take too many pictures. Next time, I will go there specifically and write a detailed itinerary!
